Baking & Spices:
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Dairy:
- 125 g butter (unsalted)
- 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk (approximately 200g)
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan:
- Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving extra on the sides for easy removal.
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, butter, condensed milk, and milk. Add the salt.
- Cook the Mixture:
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches soft ball stage (240°F or 116°C on a candy thermometer).
- Add Vanilla and Beat:
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let cool slightly, then beat the mixture with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until it thickens and loses its gloss (about 3-5 minutes).
- Pour and Set:
- Quickly pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature for 1-2 hours, then transfer to the refrigerator to set completely.
- Cut and Serve:
- Once firm, lift the fudge out using the parchment paper and cut it into 24 squares. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Soft Ball Stage: If you don’t have a candy thermometer, drop a small amount of the mixture into cold water. It should form a soft ball that flattens when removed.
- Storage: Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Variations: Add crushed nuts, chocolate chips, or sprinkles for extra flavor and texture.
