  • 1 cup active sourdough starter (or discard)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Herb Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine sourdough starter, flour, salt, sugar, garlic powder, warm water, and olive oil.
  2. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rest for 4-6 hours (or overnight for deeper flavor).

2. Shape the Bread:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and brush with melted garlic butter.
  3. Slice into equal strips, stack them, and place them into the loaf pan.

3. Bake & Serve:

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Let cool slightly before pulling apart and serving.
