- 1/2 lb ground beef (80/20 mix)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 hamburger buns
- 1/4 cup guacamole
- 4 slices pickled jalapeños
Instructions
- Form the patties: Divide the ground beef into two equal balls.
- Heat the skillet: Place a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat until smoking hot.
- Smash & sear: Place one beef ball on the skillet and press down firmly with a spatula until very thin.
- Season & cook: Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 2 minutes, then flip and immediately top with cheddar cheese. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Toast the buns: While the patties cook, toast hamburger buns in the same pan until golden brown.
