- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the Honey Butter Glaze:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough – In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Mix & Knead – Add warm milk and eggs, mixing until a dough forms. Knead in softened butter, one tablespoon at a time, until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise – Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls – Divide the dough into 12 portions and shape into rolls. Place them in a greased baking dish.
- Second Rise – Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake – Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Prepare the Glaze – While baking, melt butter in a small saucepan, then stir in honey and chopped sage.
- Glaze & Serve – Brush the warm rolls with the honey butter and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For an extra flaky texture, use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour.
- These rolls can be made ahead and frozen; reheat before serving.
- Swap sage for thyme or rosemary for a different herb-infused butter.
