- 1 large Russet potato, cut into fries
Baking & Spices:
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)
- Salt, to taste
Oils & Vinegars:
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the Potatoes:
- Wash and peel the Russet potato, then cut into thin fries (about ¼-inch thick).
- Soak the fries in cold water for 15-20 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain and pat dry with a paper towel.
2. Fry the Fries:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the potatoes in batches for 3-4 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel.
3. Season & Crisp Up:
- Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the potatoes again for 2-3 more minutes, until crispy and golden brown.
- Immediately toss the hot fries with garlic powder, oregano, paprika, cayenne, and salt.
4. Serve & Enjoy:
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch, ketchup, or Cajun mayo!
Notes
- For baked fries, toss potatoes with 1 tbsp oil and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway.
- For air fryer fries, cook at 380°F (193°C) for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Adjust cayenne for more or less spice!
