Description

  • 4 medium apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

For the Batter:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

For the Topping (Optional):

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare Dish:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a baking dish.
  • Prepare the Apples:

    • Toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    • Arrange in the prepared dish in neat overlapping layers.
  • Make the Batter:

    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.
    • Gradually stir wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until smooth.
  • Assemble & Bake:

    • Pour the batter evenly over the apples, allowing it to seep between the slices.
    • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  • Cool & Serve:

    • Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
