Ingredients

Units Scale
For the Dough:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the Filling:
  • 1/2 cup poppy seeds, ground
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp milk
For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix yeast with warm milk and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, melted butter, egg, and salt. Knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix ground poppy seeds, honey, and milk into a thick paste.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread the poppy seed filling evenly. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 10 rolls.
  5. Final Rise & Bake: Place rolls on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Glaze: Once cooled, drizzle with melted dark chocolate.
  7. Serve & Enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra glossy finish, brush rolls with an egg wash before baking.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Serve warm with coffee or tea for the best experience.
