Description

This Thick Italian Hot Chocolate is rich, creamy, and luxuriously thick, almost like a chocolate pudding in a mug. Made with dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and cornstarch, this decadent treat is way thicker than regular hot cocoa and perfect for warming up on a chilly day.

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp cornstarch (for thickness)
  • 50g dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows or whipped cream (for topping)

Dairy (Optional for Vegan Alternative):

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk (or plant-based alternative like almond or oat milk)

Instructions

1. Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, cornstarch, and powdered sugar.

2. Heat the Milk:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until hot but not boiling.

3. Make the Chocolate Base:

  • Gradually whisk in the dry ingredient mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until completely melted.

4. Thicken the Hot Chocolate:

  • Continue cooking on low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency (about 5 minutes).
