Ingredients

Units Scale
For the Chili:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
For the Hot Dogs:
  • 4 beef hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced onions (optional)
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard (optional)

Instructions

Make the Chili:
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened (about 2 minutes).
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  4. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
Grill the Hot Dogs:
  1. While chili simmers, grill or pan-fry the hot dogs until heated through and slightly charred.
Assemble:
  1. Place hot dogs in buns, spoon chili over the top, and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and diced onions.
  2. Add mustard if desired.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toast the buns with a little butter before assembling.
  • Love spice? Add jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce on top!
  • Swap beef hot dogs for turkey, pork, or veggie dogs for a twist.
