Ingredients
For the Cake Pops:
-
1 box vanilla cake mix (or homemade vanilla cake)
-
Ingredients needed per box instructions (typically eggs, oil, water)
-
1/2 cup vanilla frosting (store-bought or homemade)
For the Coating & Decoration:
-
12 oz white candy melts or white chocolate
-
Gel food coloring: soft pink, peach, gold
-
Edible shimmer dust or pearl luster (optional)
-
Cake pop sticks
Instructions
Bake the Cake:
-
Prepare vanilla cake according to box or recipe directions. Let cool completely.
Make the Cake Pop Dough: 2. Crumble cooled cake into a large bowl.
3. Add frosting gradually, mixing with hands or a spoon until the mixture is moldable like dough. Avoid adding too much—it should hold shape without being sticky.
Shape the Pops: 4. Roll into smooth balls or teardrop shapes. Pinch the tops upward slightly to form a flame swirl shape.
5. Chill on a parchment-lined tray for 30 minutes in the fridge or 15 minutes in the freezer.
Melt & Color the Coating: 6. Melt white candy melts or chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
7. In small bowls, tint small amounts of melted candy with gel food coloring: one pink, one peach, one gold.
8. Streak these colored melts into the main bowl of white coating using a toothpick in a swirling motion to create marbled ribbons.
Dip & Swirl: 9. Dip one end of each cake pop stick into the melted coating, then insert into each chilled cake pop.
10. Dip the entire cake pop into the marbled coating, swirling gently to preserve the colorful pattern.
11. Allow excess to drip off and stand upright in a styrofoam block or stand to set.
Decorate & Serve: 12. Optional: Once dry, lightly brush with edible pearl dust or shimmer for a magical glow.
13. Serve on a platter or individually wrap with cellophane and ribbon for gifts or favors.
Notes
-
For extra dimension, sculpt the pops into soft peaks at the top before chilling.
-
These can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge in an airtight container.
-
If using white chocolate instead of candy melts, add a touch of coconut oil to help thin the coating for easier dipping.
