This Classic Texas Chili is a bold and hearty dish packed with savory ground beef, smoky spices, and rich flavors. Made with pinto beans, diced tomatoes, and a blend of chili powder, smoked paprika, and cumin, this Tex-Mex favorite is perfect for game days, cold nights, or comforting family dinners. Topped with cheddar cheese and fresh avocado, it’s a must-try recipe for chili lovers!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 can pinto beans, drained
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped avocado

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Add onions, garlic, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook until fragrant.
  3. Simmer the Chili: Stir in diced tomatoes, pinto beans, and beef broth. Reduce heat and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve & Garnish: Ladle into bowls and top with shredded cheddar cheese and diced avocado.

Notes

  • For an authentic Texas-style chili, omit the beans and add more ground beef.
  • Adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing cayenne pepper.
  • Serve with cornbread or tortilla chips for a complete meal.
