Scale
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3–4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box (11 oz) vanilla wafers
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (optional, for extra richness)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pudding: In a medium bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Let it sit for 5 minutes to fully set.
- Make the Whipped Cream: In another bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Combine: Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the prepared pudding to create a light and airy texture. Stir in sweetened condensed milk if using.
- Layer: In a trifle dish or glass pan, layer vanilla wafers on the bottom, followed by banana slices and a layer of pudding. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
- Top it Off: Spread the remaining whipped cream over the top and garnish with extra vanilla wafers.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld together.
- Serve and Enjoy: Spoon into bowls and serve chilled for the perfect creamy Southern dessert.
Notes
- Best enjoyed within 24–48 hours for the freshest banana flavor.
- Use homemade pudding or custard if desired for an extra-rich twist.
- For added flair, top with caramel drizzle or crushed cookies before serving.
