Description

Crisp, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth Italian bakery-style butter cookies, dipped in rich chocolate and decorated with colorful sprinkles or nuts. A true classic!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 oz dark or white chocolate, melted
  • Sprinkles or chopped nuts, for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream Butter & Sugar: In a bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Pipe the Dough: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe small rounds, rosettes, or strips onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow cookies to cool completely.
  • Dip & Decorate: Dip each cookie halfway into melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles or chopped nuts. Let set before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter texture, add 1 tablespoon of milk if the dough is too stiff to pipe.
  • Use white chocolate, dark chocolate, or even colored icing for variety.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week.
