Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp cold water

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Make the crust: In a bowl, combine flour, butter, and powdered sugar until the mixture is crumbly. Add egg yolk and cold water, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Bake the crust: Press the dough into a tart pan, poke holes with a fork, and bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool.
  • Prepare the filling: Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until warm (but not boiling), then pour over chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  • Mix in flavors: Add cocoa powder, sugar, and vanilla extract, stirring until fully incorporated.
  • Assemble & chill: Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled tart crust and refrigerate for at least 3 hours until set.
  • Garnish & serve: Before serving, top with whipped cream and chopped hazelnuts for a crunchy finish.

Notes

  • Use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate for a sweeter version.
  • Add espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • For a gluten-free option, swap the crust with an almond flour-based version.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days and serve chilled or at room temperature.
