- 4 medium potatoes (thinly sliced)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Gruyère)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep – Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Layer the Potatoes – Arrange half of the potato slices in the dish, slightly overlapping. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and half of the garlic. Add half of the shredded cheese.
- Repeat Layers – Add another layer of potatoes, garlic, and cheese.
- Make the Cream Mixture – In a saucepan, heat heavy cream and milk over low heat until warm (do not boil). Pour evenly over the layered potatoes.
- Bake – Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Serve & Enjoy – Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
