Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare Pans

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Cake Batter

    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Combine & Color the Batter

    • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
    • Divide batter into three bowls, tinting each with different shades of blue and purple.
  4. Bake & Cool

    • Pour each colored batter into prepared pans.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    • Let cakes cool completely.
  5. Prepare the Buttercream Frosting

    • Beat softened butter until creamy.
