Ingredients

Units Scale
For the Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Olive oil, for frying
For the Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed San Marzano tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan, for serving

Notes

  • Breadcrumb Tip: Fresh breadcrumbs provide a softer texture, but panko works well for a slightly firmer meatball.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pair with spaghetti, serve on a sub, or enjoy them on their own with a side of roasted vegetables.
  • Make-Ahead: Meatballs can be prepped ahead and frozen before or after cooking.
