Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Beef Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or lean)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, for extra umami)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or brown sugar
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots

For Serving:

  • 1 head butter lettuce, iceberg, or romaine (for wraps)
  • 1/4 cup crushed peanuts or sesame seeds (optional)
  • Extra sriracha or hoisin sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef – Heat sesame oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Brown the Meat – Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and slightly crispy.
  3. Season the Beef – Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce (if using), rice vinegar, sriracha, and honey. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to blend flavors. Stir in green onions and shredded carrots.
  4. Assemble the Wraps – Spoon the beef mixture into lettuce cups. Top with crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, or extra sauce if desired.
  5. Serve & Enjoy – Eat immediately while fresh and warm!

Notes

  • Swap beef for ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Add water chestnuts for extra crunch.
  • Use lettuce like butter lettuce for a soft bite or romaine for a crispier texture.
  • Pair with steamed rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
