Description

Thick slices of golden-brown French toast topped with warm, caramelized apples and drizzled with rich caramel sauce. A cozy and indulgent breakfast, perfect for fall mornings!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the French Toast:

  • 4 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (or heavy cream)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for frying)

For the Caramelized Apples:

  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  2. Dip the Bread: Soak each slice of bread in the mixture, ensuring even coating.
  3. Cook the French Toast: Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Cook each slice for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Caramelize the Apples: In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5 minutes until apples are soft and caramelized.
  5. Assemble & Serve: Stack the French toast, top with warm caramelized apples, and drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve immediately with extra caramel on the side.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add chopped pecans or walnuts on top.
  • For a lighter version, swap heavy cream for almond milk and use coconut sugar instead of brown sugar.
  • Pair with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a dessert-like treat!
